Message from the President April.2022

Contributing to the creation of the future through Technological Innovation

The month of April marks the start of the third and final fiscal year of the Meitec Group Mid-Term Management Plan [2020-2022] "The Transformation." This plan began under the COVID-19 pandemic, which continues today. Our aim is to increase the satisfaction of customers and engineers in the manufacturing industry with a view to helping create a sustainable future.

The April 2022 issue of our internal newsletter SYORYU has a special feature on the subject of Contribution to Industry and Technological Innovation. It focuses on a global challenge of carbon neutrality. It depicts our engineers' contribution through engineering services for customers to work together towards carbon neutrality. Technological advancement will surely lead to the realization of a sustainable society. I hope that you will realize that fact and that you will next think and act on the basis of your understanding.

The special feature spotlights the president of a company that seeks to bring about innovation with propeller-free wind turbines. He talks about his enthusiasm for product development as well as the value and the can-do spirit of engineers working to create something from scratch. When I was at university, I was involved in the functional development of a vertical wind power generation system in my research. The story really intrigues me as it reminds me of the challenges and fun I experienced back in those days.

Now let me change the subject. A news report on efforts to find practical application for flying cars with an eye on the 2025 World Exposition (Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai) has recently received a lot of attention. Businesses and engineers around the world are working to turn a dreamlike idea into reality. This is also the value of engineers who create something from scratch. I believe that their achievements are a result of their stance of never giving up and their untiringly inquisitive minds. The practical use of flying cars will pave the way for such applications as transport to and from remote islands and emergency life-saving medical care to realize a sustainable society.

In April, the Meitec Group will be joined by new employees. Some of them are new graduates and others are mid-career professionals. We will work to respond to customers' needs without fail and to increase the satisfaction of both customers and engineers. We will work as one to further contribute to resolving social issues.
