Message from the President March.2020

Breaking free from preconceived notions

We have only one month to go in FY2019. Have you all come closer to your goals? Or perhaps some of you may have already attained your goals?

FY2019 is the final year of the Meitec Group Mid-Term (2017-2019) Management Plan, Next Stage 1, that we have been pursuing. We adopted “strengthening competitiveness for aggressive growth” as our basic policy three years ago and have been make a concerted effort to identify business opportunities by being sensitive to the rapid transformations taking place around the world.

Something that I have felt strongly over the last three years with respect to the business environment has been that changes in our environment and technological advances were much faster than we initially imagined and were occurring on an overwhelmingly large scale. Certainly, it could be said that this has been a transition period in which existing industrial and power structures began to change significantly. In the years ahead, changes in technology trends are expected to accelerate with waves of digitalization and globalization.

That is all the more reason why you should not be trapped in conventional thinking. We must assume that the notion of “the world is ordinarily a place where I can live without being challenged to be different” will change to that of “the world is ordinarily a place where I cannot live without taking on new challenges.” From here on, the shortest route to stable work may be repeated evolution. It is vital to foster habits that encourage a positive way of thinking on a day-to-day basis, such as “What should I learn to be able to handle and be put in charge of?” and not “I can’t handle it because I have no experience.” It is also important to hone your own strengths by personally identifying, learning and applying advanced technologies that create value in next-generation manufacturing.

In April, we will launch a new three-year mid-term management plan. As an “Engineering Firm at The Core”, we play an important role in manufacturing with our manpower and technologies with the aim of continuing to pursue high added value both in the labor market for engineers and the market for design and development operations. Through our business activities, we will contribute to finding solutions to social issues. With a sense of purpose and strong passion in the minds of each of us, let us aim for new challenges moving into the future.
